In a study of a twenty year old schizophrenic woman who was a patient being treated in an out patient facility, observation was made of her movement behavior over a period of two months in a series of 45 minute dance therapy sessions. Viewing of the taped sessions in comparison to the written diagnosis of the patient's condition by her psychiatrist indicated that the movement manifestations exhibited during the dance therapy sessions by the patient correlated well with the psychiatrist's observation of the patient's mental status. Further investigation may bear out the contention that observation of movement manifestations of schizophrenic behavior can be an important adjunct to the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia.</p>"}
