A Case Study</span></p> <p>In working one-to-one with a client for fourteen weeks, this therapist in training had difficulty understanding and carrying out his role in the therapeutic relationship. As recorded on video tape, the relationship between client and therapist can be seen to go through three different stages as the roles that they play are clarified. This individual relationship is shown in the light of the historical movement from the therapist as authority figure to the therapist as empathetic leader. The elements of a therapeutic relationship are outlined and dealt with in relationship to the actual work that was done in the sessions.</p>"}
