{"value"=>"<p>The bulk of this file concerns the work of Seymour Topping as a foreign correspondent. From 1960 to 1963 he reported from Moscow. The correspondence reflects the situation for news coverage of the Soviet Union for that period. Of interest are the letters regarding the problems of attribution or identification of news sources (1962). From 1965 to 1966, with his base in Hong Kong, Mr. Topping directed the news coverage of Southeast Asia. The correspondence reveals that he was particularly interested in the news development in mainland China. In 1966 Mr. Topping became Foreign News Editor. Most of his correspondence related to that position can be found throughout this collection under the appropriate subject headings.</p>"}
