{"value"=>"<p>The papers include information on Rabbi Moses J.S. Abels (d. 1959) who emigrated from Russia, and his wife Anne Epstein Abels, the parents of Marcella Cisney. Rabbi Abels was an early graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary. His papers include correspondence, writings and ephemera. Files also include information on Marcella's siblings Judith Abels (d. 1939) and Jesse H. Abels (d. 1981). Other family members represented are Jesse Abels' children, Robin and Jonathan, and Sedelle Glickfeld and Stella Grossman (sisters of Anne Epstein Abels).</p> <p>Letters and notes from Marcella Cisney to her parents (1944-1950) document some of the work she was doing on the West Coast at that time. Written reminiscences by Marcella Cisney and her father detail various aspects of the Abels family history, including Moses Abels' childhood, and the family's early years in Altoona, PA. The series also includes 3 letters from Henrietta Szold, a prominent Zionist, to Moses and Anne Abels.</p>"}
