Securities transactions involved the common and preferred stock of the NYT, as well as bonds in which the estate's funds were invested. Some of the records concern loans to AHS, IOS, and their children, and gifts to the children and grandchildren. The papers of the 1930's and early 1940's deal largely with the valuation of the estate, federal and state taxes, and efforts to raise cash to pay these.</p>"}
