Situated in the former Consumers Building, the exhibit sought to represent all aspects of the fashion and beauty world, with participants from the clothing design, textiles, cosmetics, accessories, fur, lingerie and millinery industries. Directed by influential fashion expert Mary Lewis, the World of Fashion featured daily fashion shows covering a range of subjects, from introducing rayon as the latest in textiles to showcasing coordinated mother-daughter outfits. In addition to exhibits, the group ran a theater and a restaurant. The records consist of the correspondence of Lewis and assistant Barbara Graves with manufacturers and merchandisers; scripts of fashion shows; theater programs; lists of articles received from foreign pavilions for the International Fashion Show; press releases and clippings; and expense accounts. Also Included are photographs of fashion models, action photos of \"lightning dress creator\" Alphonse Berge, and designs by students of the Traphagen School of Fashion.</p>"}
