{"value"=>"<p> Letters received are organized by accession date; the two subseries represent materials received after the preparation of the subseries before it.</p> <p> The letters received by Hardy are mainly from his circle of Canadian friends in Ottawa, Halifax, Alberta and Vancouver, many of whom were college and university students. In the 1970's the bulk of the correspondence is from women with whom he had romantic or close personal relationships. The correspondence reflects the social and cultural life of middle class Canadians born in the 1950's, their hopes, ambitions, and quests for employment and personal fulfillment. In the later period there is correspondence from gay friends and lovers in Canada, France, Germany, and The Netherlands. The later accession also includes correspondence regarding Hardy's career as a writer and include letters from Arthur Bell, Mitch Walker, Kenneth Anger, Edmund White, and a postcard from Allen Ginsberg, following an interview by Hardy.</p>"}
