{"value"=>"Petition to the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States, showing that in 1779 he was wounded and captured in the engagement following Brandt's invasion near Minisink, he being then a captain in the body of militia commanded by Gen. John Hathorn; while a prisoner in Canada he borrowed $1,250, with which he supplied the wants of his fellow-prisoners, the United States having made no provision for their support; after his release he found it impossible to collect payment, many of those to whom he had loaned money being impoverished; he prays that Congress will refund the money, as it was advanced to people who had a claim on the Union for support."}
