The letters document Gertrude's personal relationships and activities as a portrait painter and worker on social movements from 1879 to 1956. Some letters contain the prices of her art work. She was addressed as \"Laird\" by her friend Nora \"Billie\" Counah.</p> <p>Organizations and institutions represented within the correspondence include the Abbot Collegiate Association, Art Workers' Club for Women, Art Students League of New York, the Blizzard Men of 1888, Brooklyn Women's Single Tax Club, Committee of Manufacturers of Merchants on Federal Taxation Inc., Education Protective Association, Empire State Christian Science Institute, The Equality League of Self-Supporting Women, Harlem Equal Right League (Women Vote), Henry George School, International Free Trade League, the Joseph Fels Fund of America, Oregon Tax Reform Association, Morristown Art Association, Morristown Civic Association, The National Arts Club, The New Church, National Progressive Woman Suffrage Union, the New Jersey Historical Society, the Public, Robert Schalkenbach Foundation, Russian Reconstruction Farms Inc., the Women's National Single Tax League, Women's Union Missionary Society, Women's Work for Single Tax, and the World's Colombian Commission.</p>"}
