The book reprints the illustrations from Andreas Vesalius' \"Epitome\" and \"Fabrica.\" The original woodblocks from which the illustrations were made were discovered in 1935 at the University of Munich by Willy Wiegand of the Bremer Presse through the prompting of Dr. Samuel Lambert of the New York Academy of Medicine. Lambert and Field had 615 copies of the book printed and distributed to members of the Academy and others. The woodblocks were destroyed in a bombing in Munich in 1943.</p>"}
