{"value"=>"<p>The series contains thirty-seven audio recordings of oral history interviews and research notes, organized alphabetically by title or interviewee's last name. Recordings include oral history interviews that Horne conducted as part of research into subjects such as the life of Ferdinand Smith, a Jamaican trade unionist and co-founder of the National Maritime Union (NMU); the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong during World War II; and the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO Party of Namibia), a Namibian independence movement and later a political party. The series also contains copies of oral histories from the Fisk University Library Oral History Program, and Horne's research note self-recordings.</p> <p>Horne's oral history interviews and research notes reflect his published works including <span class=\"title\">Fire This Time: The Watts Uprising and the 1960s</span> (1995), <span class=\"title\">Class Struggle in Hollywood: Moguls, Mobsters, Stars, Reds, and Trade Unionists</span> (2001), <span class=\"title\">From the Barrel of a Gun: The US and the War Against Zimbabwe</span> (2001), <span class=\"title\">Race Woman: The Lives of Shirley Graham Du Bois</span>(2002), <span class=\"title\">Race War! White Supremacy and the Japanese Attack on the British Empire</span> (2003), and <span class=\"title\">Red Seas: Ferdinand Smith and Radical Black Sailors in the United States and Jamaica</span> (2005).</p>"}
