{"value"=>"<p>Subseries VI.B. is arranged chronologically, and holds extensive project proposals and grant applications written by Amacher from the 1970s to the 2000s. Proposals and drafts are listed either by project title, institution, foundation, or grant name. They frequently include biographies and project descriptions that Amacher used and revised for applications, along with occasional correspondence and budget notes. Since each file typically holds a single proposal, or was intended for a single grant-giving organization, projects sometimes show up in various iterations over time.</p> <p><span class=\"title\">Sound Saga</span>, Amacher's unrealized FM radio project, first appears in 1976, but is proposed again in a file from 1977 to 1979. The 1976 files include recommendation letters from Bob Marino, John Cage, Steve Lawrence, and Marvin Minsky, as well as a letter from Amacher to Steve Lawrence about the early stages of the project. The 1977 to 1979 application also holds notes for an early version of <span class=\"title\">Intelligent Life</span>, which features working proposals for a performance of the project at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1977; this predates the <span class=\"title\">Intelligent Life</span> materials held in subseries IV.A. by two years. The de Appel Foundation files, dating from 1982 to 1983, also relate to <span class=\"title\">Intelligent Life</span>, and hold budget information and project description notes.</p> <p>There are several funding proposals to the Guggenheim Foundation from the 1980s and 1990s, which describe projects such as \"Pschyo-Acoustic Feature,\" \"Deep and Deepest Tone,\" and <span class=\"title\">Rare and Unusual Atmospheres</span>. Amacher's 1994 proposals for the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College reference \"Notes Without Ears,\" <span class=\"title\">The Levi-Montalcini Variations</span>, and her 1977 talk, \"Psychoacoustic Phenomena in Musical Composition: Some Features of a Perceptual Geography\" that she used as a basis for <span class=\"title\">Rare and Unusual Atmospheres</span>. A letter of support from David Bernstein is also held with the Bunting Institute materials.</p> <p>Amacher's 1994 to 1995 proposals and application materials for the Alpert Award in the Arts are numerous, largely consisting of annotated biography drafts and project descriptions. Like the Bunting Institute materials, there are drafts and reworkings of Amacher's earlier writings, namely \"Perceptual Geographies for New Media: Emerging 3-D Music-Image Worlds.\" Many proposal drafts and work samples also exist for the National Endowment for the Arts, primarily concerning <span class=\"title\">The Levi-Montalcini Variations</span> and \"Creating 'Perceptual Geographies' For New Media.\" Proposals for the latter are found in the Berlin Prize Fellowship file as well.</p>"}
