{"value"=>"
Amacher began work on one of her largest unrealized projects, Intelligent Life, in 1979, and produced numerous drafts and iterations until at least 1995. The subseries holds a large assortment of character sketches, notes, project descriptions, proposals, scripts, storyboards, and treatments for the project, which she referred to as a \"media opera,\" a \"musical,\" and a \"multi-part series.\" The content of this series is arranged alphabetically by document type, and chronologically within each type.

The files trace Amacher's draft and revision process for over two decades. While much of the material is undated, content that was filed together was kept in order. The writings in this subseries were revised and reimagined over time, but in general tend to address Amacher's ideas about music in the future. Of note are some 1982 proposals in which Amacher describes Intelligent Life as a \"Media Opera designed for Television and Stereo FM Sound Simulcast\" and \"A 'Musical occurring in the Future,' to be presented as a Multi-Part Series.\"

Although there are no recordings clearly designated as being affiliated with this project, it is possible that some of the recordings in series III.B. were created for Intelligent Life. There are also research files in series V that Amacher compiled while working on this project, and Tape Notes in subseries III.B. that reference Intelligent Life. Additionally, subseries VI.A. includes a 1979 proposal for FM Cable Sound Saga and Intelligent Life; and a 1982-1983 grant proposal to the de Appel Foundation that contains budget information and project description notes for Intelligent Life.
"}
