{"value"=>"<p>This folder contains letters, memoranda, notes and other papers on a variety of personal matters, i.e., having no connection with or relevance to AMR's role at The Times . While most are rather trivial, they do throw some interesting sidelights on AMR's personality and attitudes. In time, they range from a Times Talk article on his prowess as a photographer (1956) to a clipping about an attack on him by a Viennese newspaper (1988). In subject matter, they cover his interests in flowers and gardening, his appearance and clothes (including his delight with hats), his acquisitions of works of art (especially Japanese) and of handicraft objects, offers of free tickets and passes to various institutions, and similar matters. Of special interest is correspondence about a campaign to induce him to run for President (1983-1984) and a piece called Desiderata, which he had on display in his office, with related correspondence with Mrs. A.H. Sulzberger (1978). Other personal material is filed under Baseball, Birthday; Finances, Personal; Health, Personal; Limousine Services; Residence; Smoking; and under the names of family members and friends.</p>"}
