{"value"=>"
Sound recordings consist mainly of interviews and conversations conducted by Mass as research for published writings, and in pursuit of his professional and personal interests. The topics covered most extensively in these recordings are AIDS, homosexuality, and music and other art forms.

Many interviews pertain to the medical aspects of AIDS: its identification, study, treatment, and prevention; and the sociological and psychological impact of AIDS on patients, doctors, homosexuals, the homosexual community and gay rights in the United States. Many recordings also concern the psychiatric community's attitude toward homosexuality, and its designation of it as an illness. Wider cultural perceptions of homosexuals as manifested in the media, films, novels, and other works of art are the subjects of many of Mass' interviews and discussions, as well as the identities, lives and attitudes of gay artists, particularly filmmakers and composers, to their homosexuality. In addition to these interviews Mass conducted with scientists, epidemiologists, physicians, and psychologists, and psychiatrists; gay rights and AIDS activists; composers, filmmakers, authors, and other artists, this series also contains radio interviews on which Mass was interviewed regarding AIDS, hepatitis B, and his book on Wagner.

Other recordings include lectures and panels at medical and psychiatric conferences, a lecture on Wagner, and an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Sound recordings are arranged alphabetically by interview subject's name or title of work or event.
"}
