{"value"=>"<p>Series IV captures Villella in numerous roles with the New York City Ballet, including <span class=\"title\">Apollo</span>, <span class=\"title\">Bugaku</span>, <span class=\"title\">Harlequinade</span>, <span class=\"title\">A Midsummer Night's Dream</span>, <span class=\"title\">Prodigal Son</span>, and <span class=\"title\">Tarantella</span>. Many of the photographs also feature frequent dance partners Patricia McBride, Suzanne Farrell, and Violette Verdy, along with fellow dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and NYCB founder and choreographer, George Balanchine. The series also includes photographs from special televised events such as the <span class=\"title\">Bell Telephone Hour</span>, a <span class=\"title\">Dance In America</span> broadcast, a Kraft Music Hall special, and an appearance on <span class=\"title\">The Mike Douglas Show</span>.</p> <p>There are also several files of photographs from Villella's personal life from infancy through his teenage years. These include childhood dance and theater performances, and later, baseball, boxing, and his time at the New York State Maritime College. They also depict Villella with close friends and family members throughout his life, including many with his children. A photograph album of childhood performances is also present; it contains related newspaper clippings, letters, and a program.</p> <p>Beyond performance shots, the series also features candid photographs of Villella at social events and backstage with friends and other dancers. It contains studio headshots and portraits, images of him teaching at the New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, and rehearsal photos, including a large amount by Bill Eppridge of <span class=\"title\">Life</span> magazine.</p> <p>The photographs also depict Villella's many visits to the White House over three and a half decades, showing him with President George H.W. Bush; President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter; President Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton; President Lyndon Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson; President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy; and President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.</p> <p>Photographers represented throughout the series include Costas, Frank Derbas, Kenn Duncan, Fred Fehl, Ray Fisher, Friedman-Abeles, Stan Goldblatt, Roddy McDowall, Bette Nettis, and Martha Swope.</p>"}
