{"value"=>"
The Journalism subseries ranges from 1960 until 2016 and contains research and working drafts of Didion's essays for various magazines. Many of the essays held here were later published in nonfiction books and anthologies, which has been noted in the container list.

The beginning of the subseries holds general files that comprise a clippings scrapbook, correspondence, notes, and press identification cards. The clippings, which date from 1964 through 1969, consist primarily of Didion and Dunne's shared column, \"Points West,\" that was published in The Saturday Evening Post.

The remainder of this subseries contains research, sound recordings (often with transcripts), and essay notes and drafts annotated by Didion, Dunne, or magazine editors. The largest group of files is for The New York Review of Books, which includes correspondence with and drafts annotated by the magazine's editor, Robert Silvers. Correspondence with Silvers is also present in Subseries I.A. Publishing and Series IV: Personal.

Some essays in this subseries were written for other institutions, such as an exhibition catalog for the Los Angeles Museum of Art, a program for the 50th anniversary of the New York City Ballet, and introductions for other authors' works. Early writing from Didion's time writing for Vogue and Mademoiselle is found in Series IV: Personal.
"}
