{"value"=>"
v01f02: Begins with the final song from Siya Hamba! 1950's South African Country And Small Town Sounds (1989). The remainder of the recording is Sheshwe - The Sound Of The Mines (1988), which is a collection of songs by different artists.

The following description is taken from the donor note for this recording: \"Tape of music by four Sotho bands based in the goldmines of the Orange Free State Province. Bandmembers are all migrant mineworkers from Lesotho. One of the main instruments in these bands is the accordian. Paul Simon used a lot of Sotho instrumentation on the Graceland album. Music similar to this can be heard in mining compounds and township hostels every weekend and holiday when the migrant miners gather for musical and dance contests. The lyrics in these songs are usually ad-libbed and reflect what is happening at the moment. A striking example of this can be found on the trains carrying the migrant workers back and forth from Lesotho to South Africa. The songs on the trains carrying miners from South Africa to Lesotho for their annual vacation are very happy and upbeat while the songs on the trains carrying the miners back to South Africa are very sad.\"

From Siya Hamba! 1950's South African Country And Small Town Sounds: Isicatula (Boots) by Jury Mphelo Band.

Malimo A Manonyane by Manonyane A Moama.

Letsa La Maluke by Manka Le Phallang.

Bana Baleha by Majakathatha.

Kwedi by Sebata Sebata.

Batauoe by Manka Le Phallang.

Tsheng La Terai by Manka Le Phallang.

Setumo by Sebata Sebata.

Ngonaka by Manonyane A Moama.

Khomo E Khunoena by Majakathatha.

Selomo Ke Motjhonoke by Sebata Sebata.

Manka Re Liahlehile by Manka Le Phallang.

Batla Ho Liela by Manonyane A Moama.

"}
