{"value"=>"<p>v01f01: Eight hour interview with five Black South Africans temporarily staying in the US, conducted over four days.</p> <p>The following description is taken from the donor note for this recording: \"The purpose of the interview was to dig deep into apartheid and what it really means for the Black people of South Africa. The people interviewed talk about growing up under apartheid and its mental and physical effects. They talk of their own and others experiences of the struggle against the regime. Some of the people interviewed were participants in the Soweto Uprisings. Others participated in the 1980 and the mid 1980s rebellions. Some lived in urban townships while one had grown up in a rural area. At the end of the interview one person commented that nothing like this had ever been done before and he felt the interview really gives one a very complete picture of one of the reality of apartheid in South Africa from all sides and especially from the view of those oppressed by it.\" Part 1 of 14.</p>"}
