{"value"=>"
The Journalism subseries is arranged by decade. In addition to drafts and research material, Journalism files hold clippings of Meyer's published articles or columns. In some instances, these clippings document unsigned newspaper items written by Meyer. Journalism files also include a small quantity of correspondence and administrative documents, such as travel itineraries and expense reports, which detail who Meyer was meeting with in the course of his reporting. Files relating to Meyer's occasional television appearances and some public speaking engagements are present here. As a reporter and foreign correspondent in the 1950s and 1960s, Meyer concerned himself primarily with politics and world affairs, covering Fidel Castro's rise to power, President John F. Kennedy's assassination, the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, and the New Haven Black Panther Trial. In the 1970s, Meyer added media criticism to his repertoire, reviewing books and writing a regular television column for Saturday Review. Copies of most of Meyer's New York Times opinion-editorial pieces from the 1980s onward are present. Meyer's later journalistic work for Archaeology and World Policy Journal is also included.
"}
