{"value"=>"<p>The Poems subseries consists of notes, drafts and copies of poems written by Clampitt, notes and materials that were gathered for poems, and some included correspondence. Materials are both handwritten and in typescript form. While most of this subseries dates from the 1970s to the 1990s, listed at the end of this subseries are some of Clampitt's juvenalia, mostly dated from the 1930s. Of note is material related to the poem \"Matoaka,\" written for the tercentenary of the College of William and Mary, and correspondence with Howard Moss of <span class=\"title\">The New Yorker</span>. Clampitt wrote many of her drafts on junk mail or other spare pieces of paper and cardboard that she had on hand, frequently using law firm announcement cards or the cardboard inserts from hosiery.
