{"value"=>"
Materials related to Remy Charlip's World: Books into Theater/Theater into Books, Charlip's career-spanning exhibition at the San Francisco Public Library in 1999, comprise this subseries.

The bulk of the subseries consists of forty-three 22.5\" x 32\" panels created by Charlip that were displayed in the exhibit. Panels typically feature thematically-linked content, and each contains Charlip's handwritten descriptions on the front and back. The panels contain a variety of items from throughout his career, including fliers, posters, and programs he designed; photographs of dance performances; Air Mail Dances choreography; and book covers. Also present are two panels with costumes designed by Charlip for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company (oversize folder 29), and five panels featuring Charlip's t-shirt designs for the Dancers for Disarmament program (oversize folder 31). Other costumes and t-shirts are in series I. Some materials on the panels, specifically fliers and programs, are duplicated elsewhere in the collection.

In addition, this subseries holds Charlip's poster designs for the exhibition, budget and financial notes, early correspondence, the initial proposal, and press clippings about the event. An eight-foot-long sign bearing the exhibition name is included as well.
"}
