{"value"=>"<p>The Repressive Legislation Task Force followed many nationwide rulings that were seen as repressive, controlling, or cruel. This mainly concerned legislation increasing governmental surveillance of citizens, unfair sentencing practices (including the use of capital punishment), the draft, repressive immigration policies, and other uses of official channels to repress the political left-wing and minorities. These materials also include individual cases that were collected by the task force. Much of the material focuses on proposed Senate and House bills that sought to redefine the Federal Criminal Code in ways that would penalize strikes, demonstrations, and protests.
