{"value"=>"
Dated from 1949 to 1989, Subseries IV.E. extensively documents McLaurin's active participation in many civic committees throughout his life. The organizations in this subseries are minor in terms of his active role and participation in them, not the scope of the organization itself. These thirty-one committees, councils, and civic leagues are arranged alphabetically.

McLaurin served on the boards of Panel of Americans, World Without War, The A. Philip Randolph Institute, and League for Industrial Democracy, among others, for over a decade. The subseries holds meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence, press releases, and reports.

The Negro Labor Committee in this subseries is a different organization from the committee mentioned in Series II, sharing a name only.
"}
