With a vista from a dock in Brooklyn Heights centered on the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge, there is a silhouette view of the lower Manhattan skyline, including a small image of Trinity Church. The design elements, embossed in silver, gold, black, and green, also include sail boats, a ferry, and other iconography of the sea: gulls, furled sails, a diving helmet, life preserver and flotation cushion, an anchor, crow's nest, and globe."}

There is a distinctly European focus to some of the content, with news of London, Paris, Germany, and Rome, suggesting that these clippings may have been taken from newspapers published in England or from English-language newspapers published on the continent. Clippings about theatrical performances by Edwin Booth, Helena Modjeska, and Tommaso Salvini receive special focus throughout this scrapbook. Clippings about musical performances of works by Beethoven, Gounod, and Wagner receive special focus throughout this scrapbook, as do performances at Steinway Hall and the Metropolitan Opera. Beginning on page 56, there is coverage of Francesco Tamagno's 1889 performance at the Auditorium in Chicago in Verdi's Il Trovatore.</p>"}
