The members of the first board were Paul Popham (also the first president of GMHC), Harry Diaz, Nathan Fain, Brad Frandsen, Joe Hernandez, Larry Kramer, Lawrence Mass, Larry McDevitt, and Joe Paschek. The first board meetings were held at members' apartments and covered all aspects of the organization from the first fundraising events, the newsletter, and information and booths at Gay Pride Day. At the time, the board members were also employees and volunteers of GMHC and usually the only staff members of what eventually became the departments of the organization.</p>"}
