The files are arranged alphabetically by subject, name, or content, and hold such materials as contracts from various television projects, film projects, and performances; business correspondence regarding Belafonte's career and ongoing projects; financial reports; and requests for Belafonte to appear or perform.</p> <p>The subseries contains a file called \"important documents,\" which holds passports, travel documents, copies of Belafonte's birth certificate, and his military records. There are also files of legal agreements with Miriam Makeba, drafts of speeches, an assortment of court papers, and a file of ephemera that includes a souvenir program for D.W. Griffith's <span class=\"title\">Birth Of A Nation</span> with a 1970s inscription to Belafonte, and a \"Slave Registration\" document from 1872.</p> <p>Of note is a 1962 file for the Chad Mitchell Trio, which is a singing group Belafonte signed to his management company after they worked with him as background singers.
