{"value"=>"<p>The 69-ton sloop Fanny was owned by James De Wolf and Brothers of Bristol, Rhode Island and captained by Nathaniel Ingraham, also of Bristol. In 1800, while transporting a cargo of 65 Africans from the west coast of Africa the ship was seized by three British privateers near the Bahamas. Documents consist of the testimony of the ships' captain, Nathaniel Ingraham, concerning the seizure of the Fanny by privateers. Included are copies of Ingraham's sworn protest and his deposition to the British Admiralty Court in Nassau, Bahamas with court instructions and statements of notaries regarding same. Also listed are names of crew members and their wages. The papers do not indicate what happened to the enslaved Africans after the privateers seized the Fanny.</p>"}
