{"value"=>"<p>The Personal Papers series is arranged in chronological order and includes three subseries: education, sermons and Paine College.</p> <p>The earliest material relates to Stenhouse's conscription in the Civilian Public Service. Materials include his draft notice and typewritten explanation of his decision to be a conscientious objector. A folder of program bulletins provides information on his activities as a visiting or participating minister at different churches, 1968-1984 and undated. The correspondence, 1978-1988, n.d. includes letters (1985-1986) from overseas church partners regarding his retirement from the United Church Board for World Ministries (UCBWM). Newspaper clippings, 1968-1984, include articles in which Stenhouse discussed his position on various political, social, and/or economic issues happening in the African continent, specifically South Africa and apartheid; and the role of nonviolence in securing freedoms/rights.</p>"}
