Though the school started out in a Roxbury apartment in 1950, it moved to the National Center for Afro-American Artists, which was also founded by Lewis, in 1968. In 1969, she staged the first local production of Langston Hughes's <span class=\"title\">Black Nativity</span>, which continues to be a favorite.</p>"}
