She began singing professionally in the 1920s, and appeared with her husband, Joe Sheftal, and his Southland Revue in Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Cato also appeared in <span class=\"title\">Blackbirds</span> in 1930, and sang with the Salmaggi Opera and the National Negro Opera.</p>"}
