Several drafts of the complete manuscript show its development at different stages, and some contain comments from agents, editors, and publishers who reviewed the manuscript. There are also many incomplete and unsorted draft excerpts and notes. However, Goldsmith's working drafts provide the most insight into her working process. These consist of drafts, arranged by chapter, with very extensive notes and appendages, which may include text revisions, background writings, copies, and transcriptions. From her chronologies she created chapter summaries and moved on to creating chapter drafts. As she was in the process of writing, she would return to her research files and chronologies and make notes and revisions, sometimes making a copy of a document and inserting it into to drafts to incorporate it into her next revision.</p>"}
