Please note that correspondence for those of professional importance who have name folders may also have materials in Series II: General Files, so both subseries should be reviewed.</p> <p>The correspondence of Dr. Leslie includes such notables as Warren Chappell, Lili Wronker, Raymond Gid (France), Fernand Baudin (Belgium), Hermann Zapf (Germany), Giovanni Mardersteig (Italy) and other typographers, printers, and calligraphers.</p> <p>Additionally, there is voluminous correspondence with members of both sides of Leslie's family and many friends in the United States, Europe, and Israel. This material documents events in his extended family over more than fifty years and captures the flavor and mores of particular eras in American (and to some extent, Israeli) history. Specifically, the correspondence documents how well loved the Leslie's were, as well as how generous they were with everyone, often sending cash gifts or equipment to family across country or overseas, along with an encouraging word. Family and friends, their children and grandchildren, kept a warm and ongoing relationship with \"Uncle Bob.\" The Leslie's had close ties to Israel, and this correspondence reveals some of the challenging and interesting details of life there during significant events. Documentation of the Israeli graphic community and the development of a homegrown paper making industry is also found among the Leslie records.</p>"}
