He died January 5, 1986 in Beverly Hills, California.</p> <p>Ernestine Kealoha Taggard (1900-1943) was born on March 14, 1900 in Hawaii. She was called Steeny by her family and friends and attended the Punahou preparatory school. She later attended the University of California at Berkeley, where she received a B.A. in 1922. Following graduation, she worked for the university's Department of Economics for several years before moving to New York to work in the publishing industry. She worked for J. B. Lippincott Company before becoming Literary Editor of <span class=\"title\">Senior Scholastic.</span> She died on March 2, 1943, following an unexpected illness and serious operation.</p>"}
