{"value"=>"<p>Marcia Durant Liles (1921-2002) was originally named Mary Alta Wolf when she was born in Chicago on December 13, 1921. Her parents were Genevieve Taggard and Robert L. Wolf. For the first several years of her life, she lived in San Francisco, Carmel, and Berkeley, California with her mother. Her godmother, Sara Bard Field, was also in California at that time. As a child she attended various boarding schools, including a stint at Beacon Hill School in England, run by Bertrand Russell and his wife Dora. Later, when her mother remarried, she was adopted by her stepfather, Kenneth Durant, and her legal name was changed to Marcia Durant. She graduated from Vassar College in June 1943. On October 7, 1949 she married Robert McKesson Liles (1919-1991) in New York. They moved to Los Angeles, where she worked in the film industry, though they later returned to live in New York City. Marcia Durant Liles died on May 22, 2002.</p>"}

{"value"=>"<p>This series includes correspondence, records concerning the literary estate of Genevieve Taggard, memorabilia, poetry, and prose. The correspondence in many instances is related to Liles' involvement in maintaining her mother's legacy and the management of her estate and literary rights, but it also contains her personal correspondence with family, friends and mentors, including writer and editor Sanora Babb, grandmother Alta Taggard, and stepsister Barbara Fiske. Of particular note is Liles' correspondence with her mother and father (Genevieve Taggard and Robert Wolf), including numerous letters from Wolf during his institutionalization at Mattawean State Hospital.</p> <p>Also of note are materials related to Liles' multiple attempts to publish collections of her mother's poetry posthumously. One such volume, <span class=\"title\">To the Natural World,</span> was successfully published in 1980, but others languished and never saw fruition. This series also holds memorabilia - childhood report cards, a travel journal, and a passport - as well as Liles' thesis at Vassar College and notes for a novel about her memories of Mallorca, where she lived with her mother when she was a Guggenheim fellow.</p>"}
