The Society was founded in 1965 by MEDICO supporters and personnel who had served with MEDICO, to assist in recruitment, publicity, and fund-raising.</p> <p>For other information on the Society of Alumni and Friends of MEDICO, see Box 863, the files of Jack Thacher, Assistant Executive Director of the Public and Donor Relations Department from 1966 to 1975.</p> <p>Box 1126 mostly contains correspondence, invitations, guest lists, and other items concerning MEDICO's Humanitarian Awards Luncheons, and the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation from CARE/MEDICO to donors, staff, and volunteers. The remaining few files do not fit neatly into other MEDICO subseries; they include literature on immunology and communications technology, and a folder on Tom Dooley Heritage, Inc., a fund-raising organization for the Tom Dooley Memorial Hospital in Thailand.</p>"}
