{"value"=>"<p>Country files, subject files, and programming files, mostly containing correspondence and reports.</p> <p>Contents of the pre-1970 country files (Boxes 1061-1070) closely resemble and in many instances duplicate those in the AEDs' country files, but in general pertain more to day-to-day operations abroad than to overall planning. Post-1970 country files (Boxes 1071-1075) show the assistant director's expanded role in overseeing MEDICO projects, as well as a closer connection between MEDICO and the CARE Program Department. The subject files (Boxes 1076-1079) mainly concern such administrative matters as budgets, publicity, recruitment, etc.</p> <p>Boxes 1080-1086 are Leonard Coppold's files on MEDICO programming, particularly the Visiting Volunteer Specialists program. Boxes 1083 and 1084 contain the collection's most complete set of the reports that were required of returning specialists, describing their experiences and the working conditions they encountered overseas. These reports are arranged alphabetically by country; other copies can be found in Box 1096, filed by year; by name of specialist in Boxes 1098-1108, and scattered among administrators' country files.</p>"}
