Most of these files are those of Franklin Irving, Director of Donor Services (also called the Service Division) from circa 1958 to 1975. Though not directly involved in fund-raising, this division handles contributions, answers inquiries from the public, maintains files on donors and coordinates Lions Clubs International's work for CARE.</p> <p>Boxes 932-934 represent a 30% sampling of CARE's files on individual and institutional donors, mostly from circa 1960-1972. Files include copies of thank-you letters from the Donor Services Director and mission chiefs, describing in detail the uses to which contributions would be put, as well as worksheets, receipts, and occasional incoming correspondence from donors.</p> <p>Boxes 937-942 contain a 10% sampling of CARE's files on the fund-raising work of Lions Club chapters in the U. S. and Canada. (Because of the volume of Lions Club material, Donor Services oversaw these activities, rather than the National Organizations Department of Resource Development). Files are in chronological order by year, 1966-1977, and alphabetical by state and district within each year. As with the donor files, each Lions Club file typically includes copies of outgoing letters to donors, worksheets, and receipts.</p> <p>Boxes 943-944 are those of David Jack, Assistant Director of Donor Services and a graphic artist who designed many of CARE's early brochures and pamphlets, 1948-1953. His files include correspondence, occasional discursive reports, drafts of promotional literature, and press releases.</p>"}
