{"value"=>"<p>Soon after establishing its overseas missions, CARE began requiring monthly reports (later quarterly) from its country directors for distribution throughout CARE, particularly for the Public Relations Department to use in preparing brochures, press releases, and other information about CARE. These discursive reports, initially consisting of a statistical and a narrative section, summarized the mission's accomplishments in feeding programs, self-help projects (school construction, potable water systems, etc)., MEDICO and Peace Corps activities, and disaster relief efforts, and often contained observations on changing political and economic conditions. CARE discontinued the discursive in 1973 but resumed them in 1977 on a bi-annual basis. It discontinued them again in September 1984.</p>"}
