{"value"=>"<p>The miscellaneous items in Subseries 2.7 are materials that the Program Department created and/or maintained, but which evidently were shared by several people or units.</p> <p>Boxes 515-518 contain files on Contributions-in Kind (C. I. K.s), the donations of foodstuffs, clothing, cleaning products and other goods from their manufacturers, circa 1965-1970. The files are arranged by the C. I. K. number assigned to each donation, more or less in chronological order. Box 519 contains Program Department files on donor organizations, chiefly such non-profit groups as the American Legion and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The files are alphabetical by name of organization. (The bulk of CARE's files on corporate donors is in Series 4, Subseries 4.4).</p> <p>Box 520, disaster files, consists mostly of reports, fact sheets, and position papers produced by the Program Department staff, mostly dealing with the problems of refugees from World War II and the East Asian conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s. Materials date from the 1950s to 1984. For a more complete set of materials documenting CARE's response to natural and human-made disasters, see Subseries 3.8, Boxes 843-848.</p> <p>Box 521 contains files from CARE's Agricultural/Natural Resources Unit, which the Program Department established in the early 1980s. Contents are mostly implementation plans (A. I. P.s and P. I. E.s) for agricultural and reforestation projects in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, circa 1985.</p> <p>Box 522 holds Program Department correspondence, 1967-1984: inter-office memos, letters to field staff, cables, etc., from various staff members, evidently kept together as central divisional files. Similarly, Box 523 contains an assortment of subject files, arranged alphabetically, circa 1964-1984, mostly on public health, nutrition, and family planning issues. Box 524 contains files of correspondence, mostly from Program Department administrators, concerning meetings, administrative changes, Contributions-in-Kind, and other matters, circa 1973-1981.</p> <p>Boxes 525 and 526 contain employee manuals on Food for Peace guidelines, accounting and programming procedures, disaster policies, and so forth, 1965-1983, and undated.</p>"}
