{"value"=>"<p>Citizens for Victory was formed in December of 1941, shortly after America's entry into World War II, by the Committee to Defend America and the Council for Democracy. Combining their resources, these organizations proposed to unite in a common program for victory at war, victory in the peace, and in the preservation of democracy.</p> <p>Citizens for Victory called for the complete and unconditional surrender of the Axis Powers, the establishment of a lasting peace based upon the principles set forth in the Atlantic Charter, and the preservation, during the prosecution of the war, of democratic processes and ideals. It cooperated closely with the League of Nations Association and the Committee to Study the Organization of Peace. Eichelberger was its chairman, and Hugh Moore was chairman of its executive committee.</p>"}
