{"value"=>"<p>Yates' autograph journal of events in Albany during his tenure as high sheriff of the city and county of Albany, coinciding with the British military presence there during the French and Indian War. Included are copied letters and documents supporting his account of conflicts with British officers and Provincial officials.</p> <p>The entries, or memoranda, are not strictly chronological, but appear to be roughly contemporaneous to events, and chiefly concern his own experiences. Initial entries are brief summaries of recent events. The copied documents, in multiple hands, sometimes bear Yates' transcription corrections and commentary. These include a letter written by William Livingston, 1757 November 28, advising Yates on his dispute with the Earl of Loudoun.</p>"}
