{"value"=>"<p>Much of Gordon's Autobiographical works are presumed to be fictionalized narratives, as his brother Buddy (handwritten note in the collection) did not recognize them as factual. They range from stories of growing up in New Orleans and rural Georgia, with scenes of racial violence and lynchings, to an enemy encounter during World War I in France. There is also a detailed diary of a writing retreat in the New Hampshire White Mountains in 1933.</p>"}
