{"value"=>"<p>These papers contain files on Hitchcock's activities and projects, some of them in conjunction with organizations, primarily the American Musicological Society (AMS) and the Society for American Music (originally called the Sonneck Society). The AMS papers mainly document Hitchcock's work with the Society's Committee for the Publication of American Music (COPAM) and his editing of an edition of Virgil Thomson's <span class=\"title\">Four Saints In Three Acts</span> published by AMS. Other projects or organizations represented in this sub-series are the American Composers Orchestra (for whom Hitchcock wrote program notes), the Organization of American Historians and the Smithsonian Institution.</p> <p>Teaching materials, such as course and seminar syllabi for classes taught at Brooklyn College, are also present in these papers. Courses include <span class=\"title\">Composers and Controversy: Activism in American Music</span>, a seminar on Ives and Cowell, and <span class=\"title\">Music in American Popular Culture</span>.</p>"}
