{"value"=>"<p>Taylor began his involvement in the anthracite coal fields of eastern Pennsylvania as early as 1843 when he loaned money to the Forest Improvement Company which had succeeded the New York and Schuylkill Coal Company with Charles Heckscher as principal operator. The New York and Schuylkill Company was started in 1823 by New York capitalists. In 1865 the company reverted to its original name, New York and Schuylkill Coal Company, and in June of 1867 it closed down operations. Three years later it reopened as the Manhattan Coal Company.</p>"}
