Included are papers relating to the following races: 500 mile Endurance Contest, Aug. 1901; Brake Contest, May 1, 1902; 100 Mile Endurance Contest, New York to Bridgeport, May 30, 1902; Grant City, Staten Island, May 31, 1902; New York, Boston, Pittsfield, Newburgh, New York Race, Sept. 1903; and the Two Gallon Efficiency Contest, New York - Bridgeport and Beyond, May 5, 1906.</p> <p>The papers include correspondence, engineering notes and surveys, official programs and racing rules, route maps, road directions, itineraries, and instructions for drivers. There are also printed lists of names of entrants, the type of vehicle entered, its horsepower, the name of its manufacturer and other specifications. Included are two printed volumes: The Automobile Club of America / 1902 / Incorporated 1899 (New York, 753 Fifth Ave.); and Reliability Contest New York to Boston and Return... Official Programme (The Automobile Club of America, 1902). There are also papers relating to the First Annual Winter Automobile Racing Meet, Ormond -Daytona Beach, Florida, Mar. 26-28, 1903, sponsored by the American Automobile Association.</p>"}
