The records, which were arranged by IALA into \"scrapbooks\", document the organization's annual activities and efforts to secure an agreement among linguists for the base principles of an international auxiliary language. Included are minutes of the executive committee and board of directors; budget papers; research reports; and reports of informal meetings and conferences attended by Mrs. Alice Vanderbilt Morris. Included is extensive documentation of international conferences of linguists sponsored by IALA held at Paris, Brussels, and Copenhagen, including records of IALA's Committee on Agreement organized in the winter of 1935-1936 for the purpose of obtaining a consensus among linguists on the principle of an auxiliary world language based upon an existing language or languages. Included also are records relating to the \"Summer Period of Collaboration\" (1940) when representatives of IALA met with guest collaborators for the purpose of developing the structures and nuclear vocabularies of two trial languages (one schematic, one naturalistic) in order to determine which one should receive the approval of IALA.
