Carleton cannot advance on the lake; Congress is convinced now that the post should be held, and approves the steps taken by Connecticut; about 1,000 men should be sent; the Provincial Congress of New York has been ordered to supply bateaux and provisions; surplus cannon are to be sent down to a secure place; the Connecticut men should be provided for from New York."}
