{"value"=>"<p>Producer, writer and director, David Belasco, was active on Broadway from the mid-1880s to the late 1940s. The short story, <span class=\"title\">Madame Butterfly</span>, was first adapted for the stage by him in 1900. Belasco was married to Cecilia Loverich.</p>"}

{"value"=>"<p>The collection contains scripts (some annotated) of works written or produced by David Belasco, published libretti of <span class=\"title\">Madame Butterfly</span>, several orchestra parts for <span class=\"title\">Sweet Kitty Bellairs</span>, and two copies of Samuel French editions of <span class=\"title\">The Girl of the Golden West</span> (1942) marked \"Prompt\" and \"Props,\" with some annotations. There is also a bound volume titled <span class=\"title\">Season 1919-1920</span> containing scripts for <span class=\"title\">The Son-Daughter</span> and <span class=\"title\">The Gold Diggers</span>. Not all scripts are complete; one copy of <span class=\"title\">The Auctioneer</span> includes unorganized sheets and a sheet with two original color drawings of a man's coat. Also included are copies of several legal documents from the Belasco estate.</p>"}
