{"value"=>"<p>The American Theatre Association (ATA) was founded in 1936 as the American Educational Theatre Association; the name was changed in 1972 when the organization was restructured. The group promoted theater and theater education, with emphasis on children's theater, theater in secondary schools and colleges, and community theater. The ATA was dissolved in 1986.</p> <p>Winona Lee Fletcher was a professor of theater and African American studies at Indiana University Bloomington from 1978 until her retirement in 1994. Previously, she had taught theater at Kentucky State College. She was a member of the University and College Theatre Association (UCTA), a division of the ATA. Fletcher served as UCTA executive vice-president from 1978 to 1979, and as president from 1979 to 1980.</p>"}

General American Theatre Association records include correspondence, minutes from board meetings, conference programs, budget information, and membership directories. Fletcher served as ATA representative on the United States National Commission for UNESCO; related records consist of correspondence and reports, mostly issued by the UNESCO commission, dating from 1981 to 1984.</p>"}
